This is happens when the "in-laws" move too close!!

Makes you ask the question, how close is too close?

Having your family live nearby is a dream come true for some, but a woman whose in-laws bought the house next door thinks it’s a total nightmare. In aposton the parenting site Mumsnet, she reveals that she’s actually debating divorcing her husband because she’s so worried about her “judgemental” in-laws being their next door neighbors.

The mom of three explains that her husband’s parents are having the home renovated and haven’t moved in yet, but that’s not the issue. When her in-laws stop by to check on the build, they also come to visit. She says it “just disrupts” her day (because they want company) and that she’s “truly dreading” their move and their intrusion into her family’s daily life.

She’s concerned they’ll want to have a chat over the fence in the backyard or will see her enjoying a glass of red wine in the garden from their window and will judge her since they don’t drink. Her husband, on the other hand, is fine with his parents’ move and doesn’t think they’ll be around much. But wifey? His disagreement is making her resent him and consider splitting with him. She wants to know if she’s being unreasonable.

  • The response? The people are divided. Some joke that she should “run for the hills” or “move out before they move in.” Others are sympathetic and one says, “I couldn’t cope. It would kill me and probably my marriage too.” Another shared practical advice, “Lots of bamboo for screening and under no circumstances give them a key.” And one optimistically suggests maybe her husband is right and they won’t be around too much, but “if they are, well, that’s the time to consider your next step.”
