The YouTube traditional Rewind is not happening this year

YOUTUBE: Rewind? Let’s Not

YouTube decided against producing their annual “Rewind” year in review, for the obvious reason.

For 10 years, they’ve compiled the most popular moments, videos and creators of the previous 12 months. This year has mostly been a bummer. From cities erupting in violence to Hurricanes walloping the Gulf coast to California wildfires and New York City ambulance sirens. The images this year were grim.

The world tilted off its axis a few weeks after Jennifer Lopez and Shakira shook the Super Bowl. That’s just about the last normal time of 2020 and pretty special, too. In the time of 'rona, we had Tiger King and adopted pets. Drive-In theaters made a comeback. We learned to cut hair. Pants and bras became optional.
