Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have finalized their divorce.
The Beautifully Broken artist, 41, and the Dumb Blonde podcast host, 46, parted ways earlier this year. TMZ was first to report that the former couple reached a settlement in their divorce on Friday (July 17). Details are confidential; however, documents show that Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo divided cars, homes, an aircraft and more. TMZ also note that Jelly Roll will make a one-time lump sum payment to Bunnie Xo (the amount remains confidential), and the pair agreed not to talk negatively about one another publicly.
Jelly Roll filed to divorce Bunnie Xo on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee, outside of Nashville. They’d been separated since May 9. Bunnie Xo addressed the divorce on an episode of her podcast, which has since been deleted. The Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic author said she and Jelly Roll had an argument on Mother’s Day, which led her to tell him, “file the f***ing divorce papers. …I ended up leaving. I packed a bag and I left.” Though she said “it was not mutual,” she said she and Jelly Roll “are ending this marriage on the best possible terms that you could ever have a divorce.” Bunnie Xo went on to share more, including her IVF journey — she revealed on the podcast, “you guys are going to be shocked to hear this, but we’re still having a baby,” — said “nobody cheated on the other person,” revealed Jelly Roll is dating again after the breakup, and more.
Jelly Roll addressed the divorce during a performance, and shared a clip of that moment on Instagram. He said: “It’s the only time, and the only city I’m gonna speak about this, so break your camera phones out now. Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth. That will be my best friend forever. This is the only time I will ever speak about it. Bunnie, I love you, baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship, and 20 beyond that.” Jelly Roll also directed people to Bunnie Xo’s podcast, “and all of your questions will be answered.”
Bunnie Xo has since deleted that episode of Dumb Blonde. She opened up about the decision in a new Ask, Tell, Confess installment on July 10. She explained, in part, “I took it down because I realized I just don’t want one of the hardest moments of my life to become a permanent headline. I don’t want to live in that, you know? I believe in being transparent with you guys and that’s never, ever, ever going to change. But I also believe that people deserve the space to heal, to evolve and to move forward.”
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo — whose real names are Jason DeFord and Alisa DeFord — met in 2015, and although Bunnie previously shared it was “strictly platonic” at first, they were undeniably “drawn” to one another. The former couple said “I do” in a spontaneous wedding in August 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They returned to the same venue in August 2023 to renew their vows. Bunnie Xo, who previously opened up about wanting to welcome twins via surrogate, embraced her role as stepmother to Jelly Roll’s two children. The singer-songwriter is a father to Bailee Ann, 18, and Noah Buddy, 9, from previous relationships.
