Tom Konz is officially my hero... He took a 1967 John Deere combine and modified it so that when he drives it in a parade, it will use the grain auger at the top to dispense candy to the kids on the route!
“They don't know what to expect,” laughs Tom, “and all of a sudden candy comes out. They just go nuts.”
The Minnesota corn and soybean farmer purchased the antique combine several years ago specifically to drive in parades, but the idea to convert it for candy didn't come until later. He says that, now, kids will chase his combine holding up sacks and even remembers one woman following with a picnic basket!
