Whether you're looking for something new for the kids to do, or you're just looking to make things a little different at bedtime, this is a great way to get a new spin on storytime! The Global Space Education Foundation has a collection of videos with different astronauts reading popular children's books while floating around in zero-gravity! The videos are edited and shared in a way that's great to share with the kids! Below is a video of astronaut Kathleen Rubins reading a book by Andrea Beaty called Rosie Revere, Engineer and it's pretty fantastic!
The concept was originally developed by Patricia Tribe, the former educational director at Space Center Houston, and Alvin Drew, who was the first NASA astronaut to read a story in space. You can find lots of these story videos and subscribe to the Story Time From Space YouTube channel here.
