Thousands of movie theaters will re-open in a matter of weeks.
Regal Cinemas announced plans to “invite audiences to return to the timeless theatrical experience that we have all dearly missed.” Regal is the second-largest movie theater chain.
Regal was the first to shutdown mid-March. Now they will be the first to re-open mid-August. Theaters will follow CDC guidelines, including lowered capacities, sanitized screening rooms and mandatory masks.
AMC will also re-open in August while Cinemark has not set a date.
The first major new release will be the Christopher Nolan spy film called Tenet. It arrives the first Friday in September. I don't mind admitting, this is one of those movies I've been waiting for... Not really one for the kiddos, but definitely one that will be fun to watch on a big screen, I think. Maybe even in 3D!
