Another movie that got pushed back because of the pandemic is getting ready to make its way to the big screen! A new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 was released during the DC FanDome online event on Saturday and it left me with almost as many questions as it did answers...
First one on my list: How exactly is Chris Pine in this movie? Keeping things spoiler free for those who haven't seen the first Wonder Woman movie yet, we know that it's set in World War I which makes it the 1910's... That means his character Steve would be at least 85-90 years old, but in 1984 he still looks like he did in 1910! How is that possible? (And also how do I get some of whatever he's using? lol)
Second thing: Kristen Wiig is playing a new villain called Cheetah. You see her as a normal woman and then at the end of the trailer, she looks like a full-on human/cat hybrid. I would ask how she did it, but a) it's a movie based on a comic book so there's got to be a mad scientist running around somewhere and b) the special effects look FANTASTIC for her character, so she gets a pass on this one. (No, she looks nothing like all the actors and actresses in CATS did, thank goodness.)
Even though the trailer says "Only In Theaters," with no release date mentioned, the movie is set to open on October 2, 2020 according to IMDB.com and Wikipedia.
And if you'd like to get another sneak peek of the movie, here's a trailer that was originally part of a June 2020 release plan... Obviously the release date is wrong, but there is a LOT of movie details in this one!
