A baby shark was born at an aquarium in Italy last week... But no one knows how it happened because the tank only female sharks live in the tank!
Officials at the aquarium in Sardinia were shocked when they found a baby smooth-hound shark swimming around the tank. There are two adult smooth-hound sharks, but they're both female. Marine biologists believe the only logical explanation is that it is the first documented case of asexual reproduction for the species. Scientists are in the process of testing the baby's DNA to see if it is a clone of the mother. (NY Post)
