The videos, which were taken by Navy pilots, show what appear to be unidentified flying objects, or as the Pentagon calls it, "unidentified aerial phenomena." The military says it decided to officially release the videos "in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos."
There is no definitive explanation for what was seen in the videos, but former Nevada Senator Harry Reid, who got the Pentagon to launch a program to look into it, says the video only scratches the surface. (USA Today)
