Feel Good Friday: Fire Dept Honors 8yr Old Who Helped Save Her Family

Back in July, eight-year-old Jaida Green of Parma, Ohio, saved her family from a fire. She was home with her older sister and her dog when she smelled smoke and heard a burning fire behind the door.

Jaida woke up her sister and the two girls were able to leave the home safely -- along with the dog.

Well, it’s now Fire Prevention Week in the city of Parma and the fire department honored Jaida for her intelligence and bravery. She did exactly what was needed to stay safe, so the fire department recognized her during a special ceremony that included Jaida being on TV.

Jaida admits that she was scared during the incident, but she also hopes other kids can learn an important lesson from her story. It’s all about not opening the door and calling 911 as quickly as possible.
