Dolly Parton revealed that she’s declined the Presidential Medal of Freedom, twice.
Tuesday morning, NBC News’ Hoda Kotb airs a taped interview with the country singing legend. Dolly said that circumstances played a factor, not politics. (quote) “I couldn’t accept it because my husband was ill. Then they asked me again about it and I wouldn’t travel because of the COVID.”
The Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor. Dolly Parton donated $1 million toward the development of the Moderna vaccine.
Dolly Parton admitted that President Joe Biden extended a third offer to receive the Medal of Freedom. She’s unsure, (quote) “Now I feel like if I take it, I’ll be doing politics.”
Dolly has done SO much, including donating more than 130 million children's books... Tennessee may be her home, but she's a national treasure.
