Prince Harry and Prince William are slamming the BBC over their 1995 interview with their late mother Princess Diana. After an investigation, a new investigation has determined that journalist Martin Bashir used “deceitful methods” to secure the controversial interview.
While Will is thankful for the report, he says the results are “extremely concerning,” slamming Bashir and BBC for worsening the “fear, paranoia and isolation” he saw in his mother during her final years. Calling Diana an “incredible” and “brave” woman, Harry says the BBC was part of the “ripple effect” of exploitative culture and “unethical practices” that “took her life.”
"Our mother lost her life because of this, and nothing has changed,” Harry concludes. “By protecting her legacy, we protect everyone, and uphold the dignity with which she lived her life. Let's remember who she was and what she stood for.”
- In a statement, BBC honcho Tim Davie apologizes and says the BBC should have “been more transparent” about what happened at the time.
- ONE MORE THING! We told you before that Princess Beatrice announced she's expecting her first child – on what just so happened to be Harry and Meghan's third wedding anniversary. Some folks saw it as shade, and she wasn't the only Royal to make a big announcement taking headlines away from Harry and Meghan's anniversary. Kate Middleton and Prince William, and Prince Charles all had big days, taking to social media to announce their Royal engagements... just no one is saying anything about Harry and Meghan's anniversary.
