Meghan Markle Gives First Interview Since Oprah Winfrey Tell-All

Meghan Markle has given her first interview since her and Prince Harry told all to Oprah Winfrey. Now that she’s reflected on Royal life, Meghan is focusing on the present, talking about the inspiration behind her new book “The Bench.”

As previously reported, the children’s book illustrated by Christian Robinson started as a Father’s Day poem to Harry, and went on to become a “New York Times” bestseller. Appearing on NPR’s “Weekend Edition" in honor of Father's Day, Meghan says the book highlights “how much happens in the quiet” – the little moments – and “growing with someone” you can rely on through the “good times or bad.” While the book reflects her own experience at home with Harry and baby Archie, Meghan also made sure that it “transcends” her family to be as inclusive as possible.

"Growing up, I remember so much how it felt to not see yourself represented," she adds. "Any child or any family hopefully can open this book and see themselves in it, whether that means glasses or freckled or a different body shape or a different ethnicity or religion."

  • ONE MORE THING! Father’s Day might not be such a heartwarming occasion for Harry and Prince Charles. When Harry returns to the United Kingdom for the Princess Diana statue unveiling, “The Sun” reports that Charles has “no plans” to reunite with Harry. Charles will be in Scotland, but there’s also still tension between the father and son. According to “Daily Mail,” Charles is making sure that Harry’s son Archie won’t be a Prince. Charles, the heir to the throne, is planning on thinning out the Monarchy when he becomes King, and a source close to Meghan and Harry tells “Daily Mail” he’s not including Archie.
  • We’re also learning more about Harry and Prince William’s tension. The latest addition to Robert Lacey’s “Battle of Brothers” book claims that a “fierce and bitter” argument was behind their decision to split their offices at Buckingham Palace back when Harry and Meghan were still Royals. According to a source, it was more like “William threw Harry out.”
