Prince Harry made his second surprise appearance since touching down in the United Kingdom this week. Yesterday, he presented the honors at the WellChild Awards and gave a touching speech about fatherhood.
The event was hosted by WellChild, an organization close to Harry’s heart that provides ill children and young people with at-home care. Harry’s welcomed two children of his own since becoming WellChild’s patron 14 years ago, but says he “didn’t need to be a dad” to understand how important it is to “show up and act with compassion for each other.”
"The health of our children, of all of us, could not have been more on the forefront of our minds during the past year," he added. “As a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild."
- In other Royal news... Kate Middleton has been given a new role by Queen Elizabeth II. Prince William announced her role during a trip to Glasgow, Scotland yesterday, revealing Kate is now the sponsor of the HMS Glasgow, a new naval battleship being built at the BAE Systems shipyard in Govan. From now on, she’ll have a “strong and enduring personal connection to the vessel and her crew, supporting milestones, events and deployments.” During his speech, William said the work taking place at the shipyard reminded him of Prince Philip, who “would have been fascinated” by the “advances in skills and technology” considering his family’s “affection for the Royal Navy.”
