Red, White and Blue Drinks For The 4th Of July Weekend!

If you're planning something festive for the 4th of July weekend, here are a couple of red, white, and blue themed drinks that you can serve up for the holiday! These layered drinks work based on the "heaviness" of the liquids (amount of sugar content) to keep them separated and layered. The grown-up version only has a few ingredients, but the kids version has lots of options (because, well, you gotta have options for the little ones, right?) Check out the recipes below and if you happen to try one of them over the 4th of July weekend, let me know what you think about it in the comments!

Red, White, And Blue Cocktail (21+)

This concoction can be made as a drink or as a shot, depending on your preference and/or people in attendance. You'll need grenadine, vodka or silver tequila, lemonade, and blue curacao.

To make shots, simply pour 1/2oz of grenadine, then 1/2oz of vodka or tequila, then 1/2oz of blue curacao.

For the cocktail, follow the recipe below. You'll need about 3oz of lemonade and 1oz each of everything else for each glass you intend to make. You'll also want a tablespoon to help with layering the drinks.

  1. Pour the grenadine in the bottom of the glass
  2. Add ice cubes
  3. Shake the vodka or tequila with lemonade
  4. Put the tablespoon in the glass (resting on the ice) and pour the lemonade mixture slowly over the top of the spoon
  5. Pour the blue curacao slowly over the spoon to finish the drink
  6. Enjoy!

Red, White, and Blue Punch (Kid Friendly)

This non-alcoholic, kid friendly, patriotic punch is easy to make because you have lots of options when it comes to combining flavors. You can choose use 7up, lemonade, Hawaiian Punch, cranberry juice cocktail, Gatorade, and a few other drinks to combine into this 4th of July spectacular for the little ones! You'll need ice and then equal parts of the drinks you want to use. You just have to make sure that you use the liquid with the highest sugar content on bottom.

  1. Lots of ice!
  2. Pour your choice of Cranberry Cocktail, red Hawaiian Punch, or your kids' favorite red fruit punch
  3. Grab a tablespoon and set it in the glass (resting on the ice)
  4. Slowly pour the 7up, lemonade, or Sobe pina colada flavor (glass bottle - in with juice and punch at Walmart, grocery stores, even gas stations) over the spoon
  5. Lastly, pour either some blue Gatorade or Powerade slowly over the same spoon and you've got your Red White and Blue punch for the kids!
