Wedding photographers deal with a lot of happy couples in their job, so it’s not so shocking that one would mix up the names of a happy couple. But in this case that simple mistake proved to be a bit awkward.
A viral TikTok video posted by videographer @jpvideography2141 shows a wedding photographer mistakenly calling Missouri bride Katelyn Love, Taylor instead. While that’s certainly an honest mistake, it became a problem because it seems Taylor is the name of the groom’s ex.
In the video, soundtracked by the TikTok “Oh No” audio, the photographer is heard saying "1,2,3, Corey and Taylor, look at each other." It’s easy to see the awkward reaction of the bride, and the wedding party laughing, at which point Katelyn told the photographer “that’s his ex.” When the photographer did it again, the couple just laughed and joked, "The couple, just say the couple.”
"At first I was like, 'did she really just say that name? out of all the names she could have chose!' I just laughed it off and didn't think of it being that big of a deal," Katelyn tells "Newsweek." "I honestly forgot it happened until I saw the video on TikTok. It was my dream wedding so I wasn't going to make a little mix-up like that ruin my day."
- The videographer confirms it was a simple “mistake,” because the photographer had worked with a bride named Taylor just one week prior, noting these mistakes “happen,” adding it was “just bad luck with the name being what it was.”
- The video has since been viewed over two million times, and folks had some definite opinions about "I wouldn't fire her on the spot, but I would've definitely asked for a nice discount,” one noted, while another added, "The photographer better have given them the photos for free.”
