August 24th, 2017 marks the twentieth anniversary of Corey Taylor performing his first show with Slipknot at the age of twenty-three. Website MFKR1.com, which is dedicated to their pre-Roadrunner Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. era, posted the footage from the show at Safari Club in Des Moines, Iowa from 1997.
The band was clearly still in the process of creating their iconic masks and developing their sound. Taylor is only wearing latex face paint and guitarist Mick Thomson is wearing a Jason mask - Clown is the only recognizable member of the band.
