Lonoke Co. Master Gardeners Education Expo & Plant Sale

It may be winter, but the Lonoke County Master Gardeners are thinking ahead to spring, laying plans for “From the Ground Up,” a gardening expo and plant sale set for April 18 in Cabot.

The expo, which features guest speakers, mini seminars and do-it-yourself activities, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Rock Building, 163 Mount Carmel Road. There is no cost to attend.

Featured speakers include Berni Kurz, extension horticulture specialist with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, who will discuss vegetable gardening. Retired extension horticulture specialist and author Janet Carson will discuss “Landscaping for the Homeowner,” and Tana Beasley with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will lead a session on hummingbirds.

“This is an opportunity to learn how to make the most of your garden,” said Caroline Bonifant, marketing committee chair for the Lonoke County Master Gardeners. “We are glad to host Janet, Berni and Tana, and we will also have mini-seminars and DIY project talks during the event.”

Mini seminars about seed starting, orchids and succulents are schedule throughout the afternoon.

There will be a plant sale for those wishing to enhance their landscapes and food trucks on site for refueling. For more information about this event, contact Bonifant at 501-259-8203 or carolinebon6@yahoo.com or Jan Rensing at 501-258-2903 or email purple_9325@msn.com
