Brian Kelley’s newest beach-worthy ballad is “soul-soothing” with “feel-good nostalgia.”
The Florida-born singer-songwriter debuted “93 In The Keys” on Friday (February 6). Songwriters Summer Overstreet, Rian Ball, and Aaron Raitiere teamed up to pen the song that offers “a blissed-out world of salt air and sunshine,” a press release states. Kelley said in a statement that the first time he heard the song, “it felt like somebody reached into my head and pulled out a memory,” says Kelley. “I’ve always believed in great songwriting and the people who do it for a living, and this song connected with me right away.”
“It’s 93 in the Keys/ And it’s just you and me/ Making out on the beach/ Same song on repeat/ Shooting the breeze/ Tequila and lime/ Oh, we have us a time our damn lives/ Yeah, seaside moonlight/ All night until the sunrise/ Unplugged and out of reach/ Like we’re 19 and it’s 93 in the Keys”
Kelley’s frequent collaborator, Katlin Owen, produced the song, which spotlights Mandi Sagal’s background vocals and takes the listener to a tropical dream in the middle of winter. Kelley’s music video includes nods to late legend Jimmy Buffett and Country Music Hall of Fame member Hank Williams Jr., plus playful, creative and beach-worthy touches. Watch it here:
