A middle school in Dallas recently hosted a Breakfast with Dads event where students were encouraged to bring their father or "father figure" to school. Before the event, organizer Kristine Dove realized that some of the 150 students might not have a father to bring, so she got an idea.
Dove posted a call for volunteer dads on Facebook. She hoped to get about 50 men wanting to volunteer to stand in as mentors for the kids. In just four days, 400 men had offered to volunteer.
On the day of the breakfast, 600 men from all walks of life showed up to be volunteer dads. One of them even brought along neckties for each and every student so that a dad could teach them how to tie a tie. (ABC News)
