Despite Controversy, Morgan Wallen Spends Another Week at #1

While Morgan Wallen may have had a really bad week last week, he’s still ruling the charts. Morgan’s album “Dangerous: The Double Album” tops the all-genre “Billboard” 200 Album chart for a fourth consecutive week, moving 149,000 equivalent album units.

Morgan is now the first country artist to spend four straight weeks on top the “Billboard” 200 chart since Shania Twain’s “Up” did so in 2003 (she spent a total of five weeks at number one). Meanwhile, Garth Brooks’ “Double Live” was the last male country artist to have his first four (actually five) weeks at number one in 1998/1999.

And Morgan isn’t the only country artist in the Top Ten. Luke Combs’ “What You See Is What You Get” lands at six this week.

In other Morgan news…

  • Morgan’s sister Ashlyne Wallen is coming to his defense following the controversy over him getting caught on video saying a racial slur. She tells TMZ he is a good person and adds that his words "did not come from a place of hate or malicious intent." She says the “pure hate” Morgan’s been receiving isn’t “beneficial to the situation in any way,” although she supports “criticism” that is “positive and educational,” since “it will help him grow and learn from his mistake.”
  • Ashlyne adds Morgan is “well aware of his wrongdoing and will be making changes to his life to rectify his actions in any way that he can,” noting, "But the way he is being portrayed at the moment is simply not who he is as a human being."
