Hollywood is changing with the rise of streaming – and so are movie stars’ paychecks. While it’s still standard to shell out a few million to get an A-lister in your movie, streaming services like Netflix are coughing up a lot more to make up for the lack of box office buzz.
Daniel Craig tops “Variety’s” list of movie star salaries, getting a whopping $100-million to appear in Ria Johnson’s upcoming “Knives Out” sequels for Netflix. Dwayne Johnson is getting half of that for Amazon’s upcoming holiday flick “Red One,” which is still more than A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, and Jennifer Lawrence are getting for their upcoming movies… and a lot more than the $3-million Robert Pattinson is getting for “The Batman.”
Will Smith and Denzel Washington are both earning $40-million for their respective roles in “The Little Things” and “King Richard,” both part of Warner Bros’ controversial decision to release its 2021 slate in theaters and on HBO Max. As we previously reported, Scarlett Johasson took issue with her salary thanks to the hybrid release of her movie “Black Widow,” suing Disney for breach of contract.
